Dimensional crossover and deconfinement in Bechgaard salts

چکیده
The Bechgaard salts are made of weakly coupled one dimensional chains. This particular structure gives the possibility to observe in these systems a dimensional crossover between a high temperature (or high energy) one dimensional phase and a two or three dimensional system. Since the filling of the chains is commensurate the system thus undergoes a deconfinement transition from a one dimensional Mott insulator to a two (or three) dimensional metal. Such a transition has of course a strong impact on the physical properties of these compounds, and is directly seen in transport measurements. In order to describe such a transition a dynamical mean field method has been introduced (chainDMFT). Using this method we investigate a system of coupled Hubbard chains and show that we can indeed reproduce the deconfinement transition. This allows to determine physical quantities such as the transport transverse to the chains and the shape of the Fermi surface and quasiparticle residues in the low

Quasi-one-dimensional superconductors: from weak to strong magnetic field
We discuss the possible existence of a superconducting phase at high magnetic field in organic quasione-dimensional conductors. We consider in particular (i) the formation of a Larkin-OvchinnikovFulde-Ferrell state, (ii) the role of a temperature-induced dimensional crossover occuring when the transverse coherence length ξz(T ) becomes of the order of the lattice spacing, and (iii) the effect o...
متن کاملSO(4) theory of antiferromagnetism and superconductivity in Bechgaard salts.
Motivated by recent experiments with Bechgaard salts, we investigate the competition between antiferromagnetism and triplet superconductivity in quasi-one-dimensional electron systems. We unify the two orders in an SO(4) symmetric framework, demonstrating the existence of such symmetry in one-dimensional Luttinger liquids. SO(4) symmetry strongly constrains the phase diagram, leading to coexist...
متن کاملQuantum Hall effect anomaly and collective modes in the magnetic-field-induced spin-density-wave phases of quasi-one-dimensional conductors
We study the collective modes in the magnetic-field-induced spin-density-wave (FISDW) phases experimentally observed in organic conductors of the Bechgaard salts family. In phases that exhibit a sign reversal of the quantum Hall effect (Ribault anomaly), the coexistence of two spin-density waves gives rise to additional long wavelength collective modes besides the Goldstone modes due to spontan...
متن کاملStructural Aspects of the Bechgaard Salts and Related Compounds
Structural aspects of the Bechgaard salts (TMTSF)2X and related 2:1 salts. mostly based on the sulfur donors TMTTF and BCPOITF as well as on the hybrid TMDTDSF dorlor, are considered in relationship with their physical properties. The basic structure of these softs is revie~ved with a special emphasize on the dimerization of the organic stack and on the disorder of the aurons IX). 0lhen the den...
متن کاملPressure-induced structural phase transition in the Bechgaard-Fabre salts
The crystal structures of the quasi-one-dimensional organic salts (TMTTF)2PF6 and (TMTSF)2PF6 were studied by pressure-dependent x-ray diffraction up to 10 GPa at room temperature. The unit-cell parameters exhibit a clear anomaly due to a structural phase transition at 8.5 and 5.5 GPa for (TMTTF)2PF6 and (TMTSF)2PF6, respectively.
